Story Behind the Need:
  • Business group: Global Risk Management and Data Governance. Seven core processes define how this team approaches data governance. This project is focused on a full review of those processes to identify opportunities for optimization. This is strictly a Phase 1 initiative — there will be no deployment or implementation at this stage.
  • The goal is to assess all data governance workflows and processes that intersect with the applications supported by the participating teams. There are about five teams involved overall, and for my scope specifically, the only impacted application is Coupa Risk Assess.
  • Phase 1 is essentially a deep dive into the current workflows to determine whether they are still valid or if there is a need or appetite to revise, redesign, or enhance them. Any actual changes would fall under Phase 2 and would be owned by the core data governance team leading this projec
Daily activities:
  • Support the collection of information and documentation related to processes that intersect with the Coupa Risk Assess (CRA) application.
  • Participate in workshops with the core Data Governance team and other IT groups to gather requirements, clarify workflows, and understand current-state processes.
  • Review, analyze, and validate all process documentation tied to the seven core data governance processes.
  • Map how each data governance process applies specifically to the Coupa CRA application and identify areas of impact, gaps, or inconsistencies.
  • Organize and maintain documentation packages, ensuring all materials are complete, accurate, and aligned with project standards.
  • Submit updated process materials, findings, and analysis to the Data Governance team for review.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to confirm process details, clarify dependencies, and support the broader assessment effort.
  • Provide clear summaries, insights, and recommendations based on the analysis of how data governance processes influence Coupa CRA workflows.
  • Analyze current workflow processes for the Coupa Risk Assess (CRA) application as they relate to the organization’s data governance framework.
  • Working closely with data governance dictionary, documenting as‑is processes and developing to-be process models based on findings from workshops and stakeholder discussions.
Must-have requirements:
  • 5-8 years of experience as BSA with hands‑on experience supporting projects end‑to‑end, including requirements gathering, documentation as is to be process, stakeholder engagement, and process analysis.
  • Strong functional knowledge of Coupa Risk Assess (CRA), the risk assessment module within the Coupa procurement suite.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, as this role requires constant interaction with cross-functional teams, workshops, and process owners.
Nice-To-Have Skills:
  • Exposure working with other Banks
  • Any exposure to any other tools in the Coupa suite, in addition to the risk assessment module, would be an asset
  • BSA Certification is an asset
Soft Skills Required:
  • Possesses creativity, is results-oriented, and demonstrates excellent analytical skills and ability to apply these skills to independently resolve complex business problems.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills.
  • Demonstrates time management and organization skills in order to effectively manage work on multiple projects/initiatives.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field or relevant experience.
Best VS. Average Candidate:
  • The ideal candidate is a banking‑experienced BSA who is also a true SME. They need hands‑on expertise with Coupa, specifically its products, functionality, and end‑to‑end workflows.
  • The manager is looking for a functional subject matter expert who deeply understands how the tool operates and can translate that knowledge into practical application for this contract.
Candidate Review & Selection:
  • Video– 30 mins – Hiring manager and Team lead – situational, technical questions, go through experience, role overview, cultural fit, and situational questions.
  • 2nd round: Video– 30 mins – Project stakeholder– Project-related questions.
