2000 highly skilled employees design and deliver state-of-the-art CANDU® reactors, carry out life extension projects, provide plant life management programs and tools, and offer operation and maintenance services for existing nuclear power stations. This role is based out of the Candu Energy Inc. home office in Mississauga, Ontario.Reporting to the Manager of Retube Tooling Installation, the Mechanical Engineer - Retube Installation Tooling would support multiple Refurbishment projects. The candidate will be responsible for developing and/or overseeing the conceptual and detailed design, manufacturing, testing, delivery and execution support of tooling systems.Your roleEngineering & Technical Execution:
- Perform design, support procurement process, manufacturing and testing of refurbished and new Retube Installation tools.
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, including making minor adaptations or modifications as required.
- Execute assignments with clearly defined objectives involving investigation of a limited number of variables.
- Contribute to system and equipment design, tooling development, design modifications, and engineering analyses.
- Support the investigation and resolution of design, manufacturing, testing, and installation issues.
- Participate in material testing, specification development, process studies, cost estimation, and preparation of technical reports.
- Review vendor documentation and support supplier engagement to ensure compliance with project and technical requirements.
- Work is typically focused within a specific engineering discipline while requiring awareness of related engineering fields and understanding of cross-disciplinary impacts.
- Plan, organize, and manage individual workload while considering project schedules and dependencies with other team members.
- Execute assigned work in alignment with project quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Ensure all engineering work complies with applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date training and qualification records; ensure all required certifications and training are completed on time.
- Produce deliverables that are technically accurate, meet organizational standards, and require only general supervision or review for soundness of judgment and feasibility.
- Work under general supervision while demonstrating initiative and accountability in achieving defined work objectives.
- Collaborate effectively with peers, senior engineers, and project teams to support successful delivery of engineering products.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years of practical experience.
- Professional Engineer designation from PEO or Eligible.
- Experience in Retube installation tooling, in particular in Calandria Tube installation is as asset.
- Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada would be an asset.
- Organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task/ Service orientated.
- Demonstrated ability to support complex and parallel technical projects.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Willing to travel to and potentially work at Project sites to meet project needs.
- Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills.
- Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
