- Drive regular bus routes as required.
- Supervise the loading and unloading of passengers.
- Communicate professionally with students, staff and others; provide general information and respond to inquiries of all passengers.
- Perform minor first aid and complete the required forms, where needed.
- From time to time, you may have the opportunity to drive extra runs, so a flexible schedule is required for special activities outside normal working hours.
- May be required to supervise children or assist elders at some events or outings.
- Maintain a record of concerns/incidents regarding any problems encountered during the transportation of passengers and notify the supervisor immediately when safe to do so.
- Ensure that all licenses are kept valid and current, including CPR/First Aid certificates.
- Any anticipated late delivery or pickup of passengers must be reported to the supervisor or designate, immediately informing the passenger or parent.
- Ensure only approved passengers are transported to and from their destinations.
- Observe all rules of the road, including speed limits and safety regulations.
- Perform pre- and post-bus-trip safety inspections and report any necessary repairs or concerns.
- Fuel bus. Coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the vehicle as needed; sanitize the vehicle as needed after each trip; ensure an adequate supply of face masks is available.
- Assist elderly and disabled clients into and out of the vehicle.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the position.
- Minimum Grade 10 education; High School Diploma or equivalent desirable.
- Minimum of five (5) years of driving experience.
- Knowledge of the community and city is required.
- Respect for, sensitivity towards, as well as knowledge and understanding of shíshálh culture and traditions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of initiative and self-direction.
- Be able to lift 40 lbs. when necessary.
- Excellent time management skills. Ability to work with little or no supervision
- Be honest and trustworthy, be respectful. possess cultural awareness and sensitivity, and be flexible.
- Demonstrate sound work ethics.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check. CPR and First Aid Certificate.
- Pre-employment physical completed by a family physician or Nurse Practitioner.
