
Mechanic Apprentice (GSE)

- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all systems associated with work equipment (mechanical, electrical and hydraulic)
- Evaluate parts for reuse, repair or replacement
- Use various hand and power tools
- Operates equipment such as overhead or mobile cranes and forklifts to assist in assignments
- Investigate and locate equipment problems and take corrective action in order to minimize the impact on crew production
- Adapts to new methods, processes, material and equipment
- Prepare and submit equipment maintenance records, time sheets, etc.
- Follows prescribed safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and equipment
- Diagnose equipment problems and determine repair needs; determine priority repairs with guidance from the lead hand
- On call responsibilities
- Legally able to travel outside of the country, if needed
- Completed coursework for 310s or 310t Mechanic
- On call availability
- Must be able to stand, lift, bend, crouch, kneel and push and pull for extended periods of time
- A physical ability to consistently lift up to 70lbs/32kgs
- Must be willing to work outside in all types of weather
- An ability to meet all conditions of employment:
- Restricted Area pass issued by Transport Canada
- A criminal background check
- Hold a valid driver’s license
