On behalf of our Utilities Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for a Quality Assurance Developer: Automation & Data to join our Client's team on a full-time permanent basis. This role is Hybrid and the Client is based in Burnaby, BC.Summary of the Role
The Quality Assurance Developer will be responsible for designing and implementing automated testing solutions across distributed applications, data pipelines, and visualization platforms. This role focuses on ensuring data integrity, system reliability, and performance across ETL processes, data warehouse operations, and dashboard reporting environments. Working within an agile team, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with development teams to improve test coverage, build scalable automation frameworks, and support continuous integration and delivery practices. The role also involves contributing to QA strategy and improving overall software quality through modern automation and testing methodologies.Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for distributed applications and data systems
- Develop and execute test cases for ETL processes, data warehouse validation, and data reconciliation
- Validate data integrity, accuracy, and completeness across pipelines and reporting systems
- Build and maintain automated regression tests integrated into CI/CD pipelines
- Conduct manual and automated testing of dashboards, including data accuracy, visualizations, and performance
- Collaborate with developers to define test strategies and ensure feature readiness
- Create and manage test data for multiple testing scenarios
- Perform performance and load testing for data-driven applications and dashboards
- Support continuous improvement of QA processes and automation practices
- Research and apply modern testing tools and methodologies, including AI-assisted testing approaches
- 2+ years of experience in QA/testing within a technology environment
- Experience with test automation frameworks and CI/CD integration
- Strong programming experience in Python and scripting (Bash/Perl)
- Experience testing ETL processes, data warehouse systems, or data pipelines
- Hands-on experience with Linux environments and version control systems (Git)
- Experience with test tools such as Selenium, JMeter, TestNG, or JUnit
- Experience working with Oracle databases and SQL querying
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI)
- Experience testing BI/visualization tools such as Tableau
- Understanding of Agile development and SDLC practices
This is a full-time permanent position based in Burnaby, BC, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring onsite work three days per week. The role is within the utilities sector.
