Our client is seeking an Intermediate Systems Testing / QA Specialist to support testing activities across the delivery and product management lifecycle of the CDT project. This role will help ensure application quality through structured test planning, execution, defect management, and user acceptance support in a public sector environment. The assignment is highly collaborative and onsite, with a strong focus on quality assurance discipline, stakeholder communication, and reliable release delivery.ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, you will support end-to-end testing efforts by developing test assets, executing manual and system-level tests, and managing defects through to resolution. You will work closely with the project manager, QA lead, developers, and client stakeholders to ensure application quality and alignment with project timelines.
- Assist in the development of test strategy, test plans, test cases, test scenarios, test scripts, and regression test assets.
- Review functional and design specifications to identify test requirements and map test coverage.
- Execute manual test cases and support execution of functional, non-functional, integration, AODA, data, stress, and load testing activities.
- Prepare test data sets that mimic real-world scenarios and support data validation activities.
- Document software defects, track defect resolution, and maintain defect logs throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Support user acceptance testing and lead initial UAT sessions.
- Work closely with QA team leads and developers during triage sessions to prioritize and resolve defects.
- Use database queries to extract relevant data and support testing validation.
- Review user documentation and provide feedback to improve clarity and alignment with the application.
- Provide status updates and communicate testing issues, risks, and quality concerns to the project team and stakeholders.
Must-have:
- 5+ years of demonstrated QA experience, including defect tracking using a collaborative tool to manage defects and change requests and communicate status to project participants.
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as SharePoint, Web Services, HTML, JavaScript, VBScript, COTS, SaaS, and cloud applications.
- Experience planning, organizing, and implementing testing efforts at the required experience level.
- Experience creating testing strategy documentation, test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test scripts, and test data.
- Experience executing functional, non-functional, data, regression, integration, and systems-level tests.
- Experience supporting user acceptance testing and participating in UAT activities.
- Ability to create and execute database queries to extract and validate relevant data.
- Knowledge of QA principles, structured methodologies, and all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle.
- Experience with automated testing tools and version control systems on one or more platforms.
- Experience with defect life cycle management, triage processes, and test execution reporting.
- Experience working with clients and technical teams to resolve defects and manage change requests.
- Previous experience working in Government or Public Sector organizations.
- Experience presenting status, test data, defect information, and migration or testing approaches to executives and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience documenting lessons learned, workarounds, best practices, and knowledge transfer materials.
Location: Onsite - Toronto, ON (21 College Street)
Duration: May 29, 2026 - March 31, 2027
Work hours: 36.25 hrs/week (7.25 hours/day, Monday to Friday)
Security level: CRJMCPAY DISCLOSURE:
The average hourly pay range for this field is as follows:
- Junior: 0-5 years of experience - $50-$58/hr
- Intermediate: 6-9 years of experience - $58-$63/hr
- Senior: 10+ years of experience - $63-$66.07/hr
