About the Opportunity
  • Accurately maintain the general ledgers of real estate investment funds and holdings entities, including consolidation and intercompany accounts
  • Perform key accounting and control functions including preparation of bank and investment reconciliations, coding of invoices and preparing and analyzing weekly treasury reports
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports to investors and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Process wire transfers and other cash management and banking functions to support the day-to-day operations of the firm and its investments
  • Prepare working papers and compliance filings for various taxation authorities (HST, payroll withholding, corporate tax, etc.)
  • Assist in the annual audits, drafting financial statements, preparing loan schedules and researching accounting policies and standards
  • Where required, perform accounting tasks related to the processing of accounts payable transactions including but not limited to coding and verifying invoices, performing cheque runs, tracking expenses and maintaining organization of documents and files
  • Provide support and assistance with various other special projects as required
About You
  • A university degree and at least 1 to 3 years of practical work experience
  • Enrolled in the CPA program or other comparable accounting certification is an asset
  • Proficient with standard accounting software (Concur, Sage, Advent Geneva, Yardi, etc.) as well as Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Highly detail-oriented and analytical, able to solve problems and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • A team player with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • General business and industry knowledge; real estate and/or private equity is an asset
