We aim to be fully reliant on clean energy.OVERVIEWThe Wood Room Supervisor, reporting to the Wood Preparing Superintendent, is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Wood Preparing. The Wood Preparing Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities related to the safe operation, maintenance and repair of the Wood Preparing department.RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS- Sustain a strong commitment to mill safety, ensuring safety is kept at the forefront and no compromises are encountered which would potentially jeopardize the safety of individuals and/or equipment. Adhere to and promote company safety and environmental policies.- Conduct monthly crew safety meetings in alignment with mill safety themes.- Utilize company safety programs to help change unsafe behaviors.- Support measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Department. Manage spending, to adhere to the approved budgets.- Plan and coordinate shift activities for Wood Preparing Operating crews.o Use data to benchmark shift performance on a weekly, monthly and annual basis in comparison to departmental targets.o Perform routine problem solving of operating issues and implement corrective actions.o Provide department superintendents with corrective action recommendations.- Participate in and demonstrate leadership in introducing continuous improvement initiatives.- Routinely monitor shift performance progress and communicate status updates to crews.- Oversee the operation and supervision of the Effluent treatment plant to ensure zero environmental incidents.- Liaison with Wood Preparing and other department staff.- Co-ordinate minor maintenance activities with tradespeople.- Prepare routine reports as required and use PI information to monitor performance and provide feedback.- Ensure adherence to quality standards and communicate customer feedback to crews.- Know and apply collective agreements.- Responsible for the supervision of Wood Preparing Operating crew(s) including Wood Room, Mill Yard and Wood Yard.- Assist the Wood Preparing Superintendent, as required, with breakdown troubleshooting and crew mentoring.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSThe successful candidate must have:- Diploma in Engineering Technologist with previous supervisory experience or hold a degree in a relevant engineering discipline with a minimum of five years’ experience in a maintenance or manufacturing environment.- Good demonstration of leadership and interpersonal skills- Strong communication skills, written and verbal- Ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and lead a crew- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills- Proficient use of computers (Microsoft Suite, CMMS, typing)- Possess a good safety record.- Recent Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) training.- Valid Standard First Aid certification.This position is in Corner Brook, NL.Why work at Kruger?At Kruger, we believe in giving our employees the space to grow, within a dynamic and stimulating environment, nurturing their development, encouraging their involvement, and enriching their professional lives.
