We are looking for a Claims Professional, Executive General Adjuster – Financial Lines (m/f/d), based in Toronto.The Impact You Will HaveReporting to the Head of Claims Canada, the Executive General Adjuster – Financial Lines Claims will proactively direct, investigate, negotiate and resolve high exposure Financial Lines and Casualty claims, involving complex issues and/or litigation. In addition the EGA will:Be responsible for examining and/or in-house adjusting claimsDrive third party service providers to achieve economical results and to provide high quality service to all internal and external customersAct as a mentor in the training and development of the team and be a technical referral point for other Claims HandlersProactively manage assigned accountsSome of your specific responsibilities could include:Investigation and Reserving of ClaimsDirect investigation of multi-faceted, high exposure domestic and international claims that involve complex issues and/or litigationAssess quantum and establish timely and accurate reservesProactively evaluate and address coverage issues along with communicating coverage positionsSettlementNegotiate and resolve high exposure, complex claims ensuring cost effective, service orientated solutionsManage external counsel in performing coverage analysis and resolution strategies, including development and implementation of defense strategies on litigated claimsEnsure claims are settled in accordance with settlement guidelinesReferrals and ComplianceEnsure all claims are handled within authority limits, and in line with AzC Claims procedures and guidelinesRefer cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriateSupport establishment of claims management procedures on new business accounts in association with clients, brokers and loss adjustersUndertake audits of external service providers as appropriateClaims Strategy and LeadershipSupport LoB strategy to ensure profitable growth and a strong market positionProactively produce effective data and analyses to support complex decision makingDrive excellence in claims handling service provided to brokers, clients and internal customersManage cost centre budget within planMarket ManagementProactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing businessProactively liaise with MMC on market management initiativesRelationship ManagementPositively represent AzC externally to the marketProactively drive involvement of functional areas in Claims handling process, e.g. Underwriting, MMC, ARC, OperationsDevelop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. third party adjusters)What You’ll Bring to the Role11+ years of specialized understanding of LoB products and portfolio with technical specialist knowledgePreferably a degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate disciplineCompletion of professional insurance qualification (e.g. CIP)Specialized understanding of regional/local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscapeUnderstanding in relevant products, wordings, terms and conditions and coveragesKnowledge of claims handling process from notification to settlement and recoveryKnowledge of reserving principles and practices; robust understanding of reinsurance and applicationUnderstanding of relevant legal processes and procedures, litigation management, litigation avoidance techniques (e.g. mediation)Ability to negotiate best position for AzC, and client, often in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of various partiesAbility to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusionsClearly and effectively express ideas and messages via speech or writingAI - A solid understanding of data analysis, automation, and AI tools is required, with an awareness of ethical AI usage.Well recognized relationship building with brokers at peer group levelGood understanding of legal and regulatory frameworkExperience in working in complex, global matrix organizationThe annualized base pay range for this role is $145,000- $165,000 CAD. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package.
