As a Project Controls Specialist, you will work with cross-functional teams by ensuring proper cost structures, procedures, and controls are in place so we can deliver safely, on time, and within budget, our annual Turnaround events taking place at our refinery in Saint John, NB.What We Offer:Work Environment – Work and grow within Canada’s largest Refinery, with strong safety culture, access to a fitness facility, an onsite medical team, and a café.Competitive Compensation – Including an annual bonus plan, and pension planFlexible Benefits Plan – in effect from day one and offers three levels of coverage to select from to meet your unique, personal needs.Paid Vacation – Plus an annual option to purchase additional vacation, tooWellness Support – With 24/7 access to our Employee & Family Assistance ProgramYour Responsibilities:Participate in contractor kickoff and ongoing status meetings to drive consistency, ensuring effective and accurate cost management.Review and validate contractor quotes against the project baseline to identify variances.Evaluate and process all TA related requisitions.Gather and compile accurate cost management data from various sources to prepare accurate project cost reports and forecasts, monthly or weekly as required.Incorporate changes from the change notification form (CNF) process into cost forecast.Develop TA event cashflow plans including contingency drawdown.Support the development of Class 5 to Class 2 estimates, including checks, and recast into cost control system.Analyze variances in cost, schedule performance (CPI & SPI) and communicate issues and reasons for the variances, propose mitigation plans.Collect data to support TA event dashboard reports including schedule performance SPI, earned value, performance factor (PF), direct field resources (DFR)Control cost and reporting in accordance with the work breakdown and cost coding structures.Establish strong working relationships with Supply Management, Construction Management, Block Lead, Coordinators, Contractors, Scheduling and Estimating.Your Skills:Strong data analyst skills with large data; able to provide meaningful, accurate numbers with recommendations.Strong understanding of Earned Value Measurement in construction.Proven ability to meet deadlines.Communication and presentation skills; able to tell a compelling story based on accurate data.Proficient with MS Office: MSAccess, Excel, Power BI, Word, PowerPoint, Oracle Projects.Irving Oil is committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment.
