The committee also plans holiday decorations, charity raffles, and outdoor events, helping create a warm and friendly community.Your ImpactTo safely and effectively support, maintain, and improve the availability, reliability, and integrity of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) at Newmont’s Brucejack operation. The role provides technical expertise for fixed plant process control systems, instrumentation, and industrial communications to enable safe, stable, and optimized mineral processing operations.As part of our team, you willThe Control Systems Technician performs the following essential activities to deliver authorized, productive, and value‑adding work:
  • Comply with all Newmont safety, environmental, and operational requirements and actively participate in safety programs.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support for ICS, including DCS, PLC, SCADA, instrumentation, and associated field equipment.
  • Interface with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and external vendors to diagnose issues, implement repairs, and improve system reliability.
  • Support control system maintenance strategies and participate in project execution, system upgrades, shutdowns, and plant improvement initiatives.
  • Apply industry best practices and Newmont standards to ensure compliance, cybersecurity awareness, and lifecycle integrity of ICS.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, drawings, and change records related to control system modifications.
  • Contribute to commissioning and troubleshooting of processing equipment, motor control systems, and advanced control strategies.
Prerequisites for your success in this role
  • Engineering degree in Control Systems, Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics or other related engineering disciplines; OR Electrical and/or Instrumentation Trade Certification; OR CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to support, maintain, and troubleshoot ICS in a mining, processing, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Proven hands-on experience with DCS/SCADA platforms (e.g., DeltaV, ControlLogix/CompactLogix, Modicon) to support system reliability and performance.
  • Strong capability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop drawings, and technical documentation to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze faults, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to work within integrated OT/IT environments, including familiarity with industrial networks, communication protocols, and system interfaces.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across site and global teams while managing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Experience (Assets)
  • Additional qualifications in Process Control or ICS.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting mineral processing control systems.
  • Experience with AVEVA PI Vision or other historian platforms.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus TCP/IP, OPC, Profibus).
  • Understanding of IT/OT fundamentals, including virtualization, databases, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience specifying instrumentation and control system components.
  • Commissioning experience with modern motor control systems.
  • Experience developing or modifying PCS/DCS configurations, HMI applications, and control narratives.
  • Familiarity with advanced regulatory and control strategies (e.g., cascade, feedforward).
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is considered an asset.
Your work environment
  • Remote camp setting on a rotational schedule, with private accommodations provided
  • Primary work location is an industrial office environment (~80%), with regular exposure to plant and underground mine environments.
  • Work conditions may include exposure to extremes of temperature, humidity, moving mechanical equipment, electrical hazards, chemicals, fumes, airborne particulates, and explosives.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory and may include hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear, respirators, gloves, and protective clothing as required.
  • Occasional manual handling of materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.

The Brucejack team is now recruiting for the position of Technician, Control Systems, with a competitive base salary range of $85,400 - 113,900, plus a 15% Short-Term Incentive Plan (STIP). The offered compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, with consideration to internal equity.
