Our client is a well-established and innovative Ottawa-based tech company specializing in data visualization. Their platform is designed to handle the broad and evolving range of data types required to comply with todayâs cybersecurity laws. They are currently seeking a Director of DevSecOps & Platform Engineering to define and oversee the strategy, architecture, and operations of a secure, reliable, and scalable platform. This role is central to embedding security into every stage of development while ensuring world-class performance and enabling developer velocity.Position Overview:
The Director of DevSecOps & Platform Engineering will define the overall platform vision and architecture, embedding security into every stage of development while ensuring performance, scalability, and resilience. They will oversee infrastructure operations, drive adoption of cloud-native and Generative AI technologies, and integrate automated security controls into CI/CD pipelines and workflows. This role will foster a DevSecOps culture that empowers development teams with secure, self-service tools, while ensuring compliance with industry frameworks and managing risk across third-party platforms and services. As a senior leader, they will guide a multidisciplinary team and collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to align platform capabilities with organizational goals.Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or DevSecOps leadership, ideally within high-scale SaaS environments.
- Deep expertise with cloud-native architectures (Kubernetes, microservices, infrastructure-as-code).
- Experience delivering platforms that leverage modern data lakes and Generative AI technologies.
- Strong knowledge of security engineering principles, including secure SDLC, threat modeling, and vulnerability management.
- Proven track record designing CI/CD pipelines with embedded security controls in agile development environments.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (Masterâs preferred).
- Leading platform transformations with security as a core capability.
- Familiarity with observability platforms, performance optimization, and reliability engineering.
- Relevant certifications such as CKA, Certified DevSecOps Professional, or cloud provider credentials.
- Experience with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, FedRAMP, GDPR, and CCPA.
- Ability to communicate risk, performance, and security insights effectively at Board and C-suite levels.
- Hands-on experience with advanced security automation, observability tooling, and AI/ML security governance.
