
Occupational Therapist (OT)

- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum of 200 hours working in direct OT patient care situations with neurological and/or orthopaedic conditions within the last 12 months (may include student placement hours).
- Evidence of continuing professional development. (please list the most recent 3 on the application).
- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload.
- Assess the suitability of the referred patient to benefit from occupational therapy.
- Complete assessments, and implement treatment plans for adults, relative to the scope of practice of Occupational Therapy, within acute care and/or rehabilitation environments.
- Work as part of a larger interdisciplinary team.
- Complete prescriptions of therapeutic equipment, minor environmental adaptations and seating/mobility needs, as appropriate.
- Review and communicate plans and goals of occupational therapy activities with clients, caregivers and other team members.
- Maintains appropriate written records of assessment, treatment plan, progress and discharge as per guidelines of Quinte Health.
- Keep physicians informed of patients' progress by way of written reports/face-to-face communication.
- Provide consultation services to caregivers and external agency staff related to OT programming.
- Monitors program and discharges clients as appropriate.
- Maintains required workload statistics
- Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives at Quinte Health as required.
- Participates in staff meetings, case conferences and continuous quality improvement activities and projects as required.
- Attends conferences, courses and in-services to upgrade knowledge and technical expertise.
- Must be able to accept direction and work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work closely with patients and hospital staff.
- Able to work in a high-stress and fast-paced work environment.
- Able to work independently while maintaining an efficient & effective practice.
- Able to work weekdays and weekends between Belleville, Trenton and Picton hospital locations.
- Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.
