- Review RFQ / RFP or bid / tender documentation to make or allow recommendations to be made to (line) management in regards to submitting qualifications and proposals
- Conduct Prime Contract reviews to identify contract and commercial risks / opportunities which need to be considered and addressed within the bid and ensure bid submissions are compliant
- Support in liaising with Legal, Risk Management, etc. when reviewing bid documentation, subcontracts, including NDAs and contractual and insurance matters
- Support the project team with the preparation, negotiation, and approval of all Prime Contract and sub-trade change order requests, ensuring that change order request tracking is up to date and complete, and that the schedule impact of the changes are included
- Support the project team during the subcontracting process, which includes facilitating initial scope review meetings, finalizing agreed processes, developing subcontract scopes of work, and managing the subcontract distribution and final execution process including buy-out
- Support the preparation of claims, including defining contractual entitlement, and ensuring that the required level of substantiation and quantification is provided in order to achieve the objective of the claim
- Support the defense of claims arising from the Graham supply chain, refute contractual entitlement (if applicable), and fairly evaluate claims to ensure that the required level of substantiation and quantification is provided
- Ensure that a formal risk-management process is implemented on each project, including maintaining the package-specific project risk and opportunities register with monthly updates, and mitigating risks throughout the project’s lifecycle
- Support the project’s profitability and financial schedule, ensuring reports are accurately provided keeping management informed of the financial status of the project and its likely outcome
- Support the project team with the requirements for contract close-out to achieve formal project acceptance
- Assume full accountability for the MEIT elements on the project / complete the relevant obligations of the deliverables as pre-agreed
- Oversee MEIT team performance measurement metrics, development of team, and succession planning, through the Graham PMP process
- Produce the Commissioning Plan for each project and ensure the plan is monitored and managed to a successful outcome
- Assist in the input of regular status reports for management and project steering committees (as applicable), detailing the status of the project and recommending actions to be taken
- Have accountability up to an MEIT operating value up to and exceeding $60M
- Ensure the packages are administered according to company procedures and that all client change is identified, change orders are raised for authorization, contractor pricing is received and reviewed, and that system workflows are enabled to have complete visibility of the account, including accurate forecasts
- Maintain an understanding of the terms and conditions to which the contractors are appointed
- Ensure that contractual issues are mitigated or escalate as appropriate prior to them becoming an impact to the project performance
- Build effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support Graham core values
- Attend and / or facilitate regular specific progress meetings and assist the project team where required
- Lead, promote, and maintain a positive safety culture within the team, without compromise, by monitoring and measuring HSE goals and expectations using KPIs
- Ensure responsibility for own health and safety, and that of other workers, visitors to the site(s), the community, and the environment in line with client requirements, Occupational Health and Safety regulations, and all applicable government laws and regulations
- Review the Field Surveillance Reports and initiate NCRs based on analysis and severity of findings
- Communicate and represent highly technical aspects to a variety of audiences and to the client across multiple facets of the MEIT spectrum confidently
- Completion of a Technical Diploma or Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related is required, or specific trade experience.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a Mechanical or Electrical specialization, within Commercial building projects.
- Experience with Design-Build projects is an asset
- Experience managing large subcontractors.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Primavera P6 software.
- This role is primarily site-based, though frequent travel may be required.
- The incumbent may need to relocate to other geographic office/site work locations, if necessary.
