
Electrical Engineering Technologist– Protection & Control

- Design Protection & Control systems with 2D software (AutoCAD)
- Prepare project deliverables including detail drawings, electrical schematics, layouts, equipment sizing, etc.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians in the execution of technical tasks
- Prepare plans, drawings and calculations based on specifications provided
- Participate in the development of electrical Control and Protection systems, including single-line diagrams, logic diagrams, three-wire AC diagrams, protection and control diagrams, wiring drawings, device connection drawings, assembly plans, material lists and specifications for the manufacture and installation on site of Control and Protection panels
- Participate in the development of AC and DC power systems, including single-line diagrams, AC and DC load calculations, AC & DC distribution diagrams, connection drawings of chargers, batteries, inverter, etc.
- Participate in site surveys (substations and power stations)
- Coordinate with the engineering disciplines: apparatus, civil, mechanical and building in order to develop design solutions for optimized and advanced substation and power plant systems
- Ability to carry out site work sporadically when the opportunity arises (start-up or monitoring)
- College Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technologies or equivalent related discipline
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Basic knowledge of the MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Knowledge of protection and control principles and philosophies is an asset
- Work experience in the design of electrical systems is an asset
- Experience in detailed P&C design with major and/or local utilities in Canada, an asset
- Experience using AutoCAD software is an asset
