- Complete inspections, assessments, analyses, structural modeling and design of bridges and other transportation infrastructure such as retaining walls and major sign structures.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams across Alberta and BC.
- Apply knowledge of Alberta Transportation, City of Edmonton, and/or City of Calgary standards.
- Prepare and review structural design calculations for highway bridges, pedestrian bridges, railroad bridges, temporary resource bridges, retaining walls, overhead light standards and bridge-sized culverts.
- Participate in business development, project pursuits and proposal preparation on bridge and other transportation infrastructure projects.
- Prepare conceptual, design, and contract cost estimates.
- Coordinate with sub-consultants and other various interested parties.
- Prepare and/or review specifications, special provisions, drawings, contract documents and other related project deliverables.
- Undertake contract administration, field inspection and reporting to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed.
- collaborate with team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained.
- Mentor junior engineers and technologists while learning from senior bridge and structural specialists.
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Structural Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution plus 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar role.
- Masters in Structural Engineering is considered an asset.
- Registration in good standing as a P.Eng. in Alberta and be eligible for registration in British Columbia.
- Knowledge & experience with bridge design related to CAN/CSA S6, and its application to bridge projects across highway, rural road, and resource projects.
- Familiarity with Alberta Transportation standards (preferred).
- Strong technical background in bridge design, rehabilitation, assessment, inspection, or contract administration
- Proficiency in the application of AutoCAD Civil 3D, MIDAS and CSiBridge related to bridge design work.
- Experience in bridge hydrotechnical analysis in accordance with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors guidelines is considered an asset.
