The role is hands on in the field understanding what makes the business tick. The operational knowledge gained in the field will be leveraged to create best practices for the technology that will support the operations.This role is based out of Edmonton, AB. Candidates located in Calgary may be considered but will require up to 50% travel.The TeamA successful candidate will be one that wants a hands on approach, and has the ability to communicate between multiple stakeholder groups. This person will be part of operations and will be the bridge to corporate IT support.Work EnvironmentThis is a Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm in office position.A Day in The LifeBusiness and BITS AlignmentGain an in-depth understanding of the business and business processesCollaborate with customers to understand their near and long term goals and challenges; create and align on a business application roadmapAttends business unit operational meetings and gathers/takes ownership of technology related actionsTranslate business requirements into technical specifications and solutionsPrioritize BITS related activities to ensure value creation is balanced with resource availabilityApplication ManagementWorks alongside the Business Application Support team to provide business continuity and application improvementsMonitor the performance and availability of applications and work to improve efficiencyIdentify and recommend opportunities to enhance and optimize applicationsVendor ManagementManage relationship with third party vendor and software providersEvaluate and select appropriate software solutions to meet business needsChange ManagementCollaborate with business units to manage changes in business processes and applicationsDevelop and implement change management strategies to ensure smooth uptake of new technologies and processesProject Management SupportWork in collaboration and in support of the PMO on projects that will impact the customer base.Understand business requirements to ensure that solutions will work and are fit-for-purpose as they become operational.Develop and execute on operational handoff of new applications into the Business Applications TeamAnalyticsAbility to understand the value of the data available and identify new data sourcesWork alongside the Business Intelligence team to create valuable insights for the businessDeliver ad-hoc and recurring reports for operations leaders and work with the Business Intelligence team to transform these into Power BI solutionsValidate and clean data exports from the operational and financial systems to deliver insights for the businessCompliance & SecurityEnsure that applications comply with SECURE policies and standards (ex. Patching / Identity)Collaborate with security teams to protect business data and systemsTraining & SupportDelivers on a “How can I help” philosophy for their customersProvide training and support to end-users to maximize the effective use of technologyWork with the Business Application Support team to troubleshoot and resolve application related issuesSkills, Experience & QualificationsThe individual in this role will have:
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or a related field or a graduate from trades programs.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to understand business, operations, and technology
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and/or general technological competency using computers and various software systems.
  • Willingness and curiosity for learning and becoming an expert in new systems.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • A team player who values relationships, collaboration and can bring people together to solve problems
  • Experience with evolving business process, upgrading technology and change management
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and cross functional teams
  • Effective conflict resolution skills to build commonality, alignment and create a path forward together
  • Self-awareness and ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
