
Construction Inspector

- Provide daily construction oversight to ensure quality work in conformance with the contract documents and specifications
- Prepare and issue daily site inspection reports.
- Review the contractor's labor and equipment on site
- Track contractor's physical progress on site and compare actual progress against the baseline planned progress schedule and respective look-ahead schedules.
- Reviewing monthly contractor progress payments and assisting with payment certification.
- Reviewing contractor change requests and claims.
- Coordination of additional inspection testing requirements and subconsultants.
- Assisting with various contract administration duties as well as coordinating multi-discipline site inspections to monitor Contractor progress, workmanship, and conformance with the contract documents.
- Communicate regularly with the Client, the Contractor project teams, internal Hatch design teams, and act as an Ambassador of Hatch in communicating with the public and other stakeholders through the duration of the construction contract.
- Ensure adherence to established Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and regulations within a COR registered environment.
- Review and adhere to Hatch's health and safety, environmental, and quality standards, operating procedures, and policies.
- Perform regular formal or informal workplace HSE inspections.
- Those duties specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- A diploma or education in a related discipline.
- C.E.T. Designation is an asset.
- 3-5 years of experience in a construction role.
- Experience working for a consulting engineering firm and/or a construction firm.
- Experience in water/wastewater treatment facility design and construction is an asset.
- Experience with multi-discipline design coordination and construction.
- Experience with monitoring and coordinating activities on a construction project including liaising with the Client, Contractors, Approvals Officers, and Public as required.
- Experience with documenting site activities and inspections, including: Daily inspection reports, daily logs, photographic records, physical progress, non-conformances, deficiency lists, etc..
- Efficient and above average skills in report writing, presentations, organization, and administrative processes.
- Proven analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a committed team player.
- Ability to understand and interpret Contract Documents and Drawings
- Knowledge of Construction materials, trades, means and methods of the construction process, project scheduling, and the contractual obligations of sub-contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers through the construction process
- A solid understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety act and Construction Regulations
- A valid driver's license is a must
- Demonstrates good understanding and management of commercial contracts and risk
