Job Description:Wood is anticipating expanding the team to support upcoming work in the Voisey's Bay, NL office. We are seeking a Senior / Intermediate Electrical Technologist, for a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation. The ideal candidate will have experience in the Industrial / Mining industry.   • Responsible to produce basic and higher-tier drawings and documentation in accordance with established conceptual design and scope
  • Conducts checking of engineering deliverables as required
  • Individual must have extensive understanding of all engineering discipline drawings and electrical discipline wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, system descriptions and calculations
  • Applies standard engineering tasks and exhibits a working knowledge of applicable codes
  • Capable of independently evaluating the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria and systems to efficiently meet project goals
  • Assists in planning, scheduling and coordinating detailed phases of engineering work
  • Participates in conferences with the client to establish project objectives and resolve design problems
  • Properly interprets and applies codes & standards and customer design requirements, for the preparation of electrical design documents, specifications, material requisitions and system descriptions related to design tasks
  • Individual shall be able to develop bills of material and specifications for equipment
  • Conduct field assessments and provide construction support on occasion at client facilities and construction sites
  • Interface with clients for project scope development, design reviews, and progress meetings
Qualifications:
  • Electrical Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent, focus on power & controls preferred
  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with cable tray layouts, single line diagrams, electrical schematics, general arrangements, lighting layouts and general electrical design concepts
  • 8+ years relevant experience preferrable
  • Local codes and standards
  • Experience with underground mining power and control systems would be considered an asset
