
Senior Pressure Vessels Mechanical Engineer

- Developing the process design for a project or proposal consisting of a normal process unit
- Providing comprehensive engineering and design services by establishing design criteria and preparing specifications, design computations, drawings, models and bills of material in accordance with basic project requirements
- Participating in the design of component parts and individual units
- Exercising cost/budget control, and reviewing and monitoring designs for conformance with control estimates and project specifications
- Reviewing and maintaining project schedules, and tracking engineering tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project management
- Supervising the various activities involved in the design of a project consisting of several complex process units
- Performing detailed calculations
- Participating in design reviews and HAZOPs as required
- Providing technical guidance to junior staff
- Interfacing with client representatives
- Maintaining current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards
- Reviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirements
- Applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses to complex engineering tasks
- Adhering to Vista Quality Management System (QMS)
- Ensuring design is in accordance with applicable codes and requirements, including Vista and client specifications and standards
- Assigning and outlining work for others, and reviewing work for technical accuracy and adequacy
- Actively stewarding change management as related to their scopes of work
- Preparing or assisting in the preparation of discipline inputs for cost estimates for proposals
- Providing construction support
- Authenticating documentation with a professional engineering stamp as required
- Applying broad working knowledge of most types of equipment with specialized knowledge of one or more equipment types
- Preparing and reviewing equipment specifications and datasheets for complex equipment and packages
- Preparing material requisitions and technical bid evaluations for complex equipment and packages
- Preparing and reviewing equipment lists
- Providing fabrication/technical support to vendors for complex equipment and packages
- Reviewing equipment drawings, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings from a mechanical standpoint
- Preparing and reviewing engineering work packages
- Preparing and reviewing designs and specifications for mechanical systems and materials
- Contributing and reviewing technical selection, sizing and evaluation of equipment
- Performing other duties as requested
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in engineering or applied science
- Ten (10) or more years of mechanical engineering design of pressure vessels including drums, towers with internal trays & packing and reactors in the energy industry
- Working experience in mechanical integrity analysis, evaluation and rerating of the existing pressure vessels in brownfield projects
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of applicable codes and industry standards including ASME VIII div 1 & div 2, CSA B51, NACE, WRC, ABSA regulations, etc.
- Hanks-on experience in utilizing the software of Compress, PV Elite, NozzlePro, etc.
- Extensive experience in development and peer review of mechanical datasheets, TBC, TBE, MRQ & MRP, vendor documents review of pressure vessels
- Ability to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnel
- P.Eng. registration with APEGA
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail
- Self-motivated and efficient in time management
- Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visits
- Ten (10) or more years of mechanical engineering design and integrity analysis of pressure vessels in the energy industry.
