Job DescriptionWhat is the Opportunity?
As the Director, Automation Operations Enablement, you will lead the optimization and automation of access provisioning and de-provisioning workflows across Royal Bank of Canada’s and subsidiaries enterprise platform system. Your objective is to analyze current manual processes, identify automation opportunities, and drive the implementation of workflow automation solutions that reduce manual effort, accelerate provisioning cycles, and enhance compliance. You will be accountable for championing process efficiency, establishing governance frameworks, and building a high-performing automation team.What will you do?Analyze current access provisioning and de-provisioning workflows across enterprise platforms to identify bottlenecks, redundancies, and manual touchpoints requiring automationDevelop comprehensive automation strategies and roadmaps to reduce manual effort, improve SLA compliance, and accelerate provisioning/de-provisioning cyclesWork collaboratively with IAM teams, business stakeholders, and platform leads to understand requirements and translate them into actionable automation plansDesign process improvements leveraging workflow automation engines, RPA technologies, and integration platforms to optimize existing provisioning workflowsEstablish governance frameworks, monitoring mechanisms, and audit controls to track automation performance, maintain compliance, and ensure access control integrity.Lead and mentor a team of automation engineers; manage vendor relationships and evaluate automation tools and platformsPartner with Engineering and Infrastructure teams to integrate automation solutions within DevOps pipelines and enterprise architectureDesign and optimizing access provisioning workflows using automation platforms, APIs, and scripting languages.Create and maintain documentation of automated processes, test cases, and automation performance metricsWhat do you need to succeed?Must have:10+ years of identity and access management, or enterprise automation experience; with 5+ years in a leadership or senior technical role.Expert-level experience in process mapping, workflow analysis, and bottleneck identification within access provisioning and de-provisioning environmentsAdvanced proficiency with automation technologies: workflow automation tools, RPA platforms, scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Java), and API integrations.Proven expertise optimizing and automating manual access provisioning/de-provisioning workflows using workflow automation engines and RPA platforms.Technical knowledge of access provisioning platforms and IAM protocols and enterprise identity management systems.Hands-on experience with SQL, database querying, and integration platforms to connect provisioning systems.Demonstrated success by reducing manual touchpoints, improving provisioning cycle times, and managing large-scale automation initiatives.Experience with JIRA, and documentation tools for process tracking and automation governance.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and design skills with excellent oral and written communication abilitiesNice-to-haveComputer Science, Engineering, or related technical degree/diplomaHands-on experience with enterprise IAM tools such as Sailpoint, Okta, CyberArk, or Microsoft Entra ID etc.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid identity environmentsBackground in cybersecurity and access control best practicesFamiliarity with DevOps frameworks and CI/CD pipeline integrationWhat's in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
