The 1st Cook will be responsible for ensuring that meals are prepared and served in accordance with company standards. The 1st Cook provides coverage for the Chef when he/she is out on rotation.Where We Work and Live:The Jansen Discovery Lodge is a workforce housing facility in support of the BHP Jansen potash mine. The camp is located 155 kilometers east of Saskatoon, SK.Our positions work on a 14 day on, 7 days off rotation. Accommodations and meals during your work rotations are provided by the company.Responsibilities:Assist the Chef in managing food services in compliance with Food Service Management Guides and Provincial and Federal RegulationsAssist the Chef in the preparation of all foods to be served in accordance with meal plans and schedulesAssist the Chef in the inventory control to maintain appropriate level of inventory at all timesConduct routine audits and inspections of kitchen operations, dining room, bag up room, equipment, and food handling practices to ensure regulatory complianceProvide day or night shift supervision dependent on rotational schedule, ensuring consistent operations across all service periodsSupervise and support operations in the kitchen, bag up room, dining room, and dish area, ensuring all departments are running smoothly and meeting service standardsEnsure all team members are adhering to food safety standards, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control proceduresEnforce and monitor the use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all timesLead and support a team, fostering a productive, safe, and accountable work environmentAssign duties and responsibilities to ensure that kitchen staff complete their given tasks in a professional and timely mannerTrain workers in food preparation, service, sanitation, and safety procedures in accordance with government regulations and Health and Safety policies, procedures and guidelines.Inspect facilities or equipment for regulatory complianceOther duties as assignedQualifications:5 or more years' experience in a related field of workMust have Red Seal CertificationAdvanced Food Safe Certificate RequiredClass 5 license and clean drivers abstract is requiredCSTS would be an assetLead by example in promoting a respectful and professional work environmentStrong organization and leadership skillsWork well under pressureEffective problem-solving skillsWe would like to thank everyone for their application; however, only those being considered for an interview will be contacted.This position has been identified as safety sensitive and will require completion and successful passing of a pre-employment alcohol & drug test and criminal record check.
