
Paving Foreman

- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in equipment.
- Must have the ability to quickly identify problem situations, evaluate alternative causes and produce workable solutions and work positively within a team to achieve a common goal.
- Hours: Based on a 44-hour work week; however, overtime is required during the busy season.
- Must be willing to working evenings and weekends when needed.
- Hourly rate is dependent on experience.

- The Paving Foreman/woman directs and manages all on-site construction workers, subcontractors and equipment, enforcing the company's direction, policies, procedures and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines.
- The construction work is varied including all facets of small civil jobs to large municipal and highway projects.
- Work with Superintendents, Project Managers, and sub-contractors to increase safety awareness and improve safety practices.
- Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, and equipment.
- Represent the company professionally in the community and maintain ongoing good business relationship with customer base and suppliers.
- Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
- Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met.
- Promote, execute, and adhere to the company's safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture, and an integral component of regular duties.
- Administer and submit daily reporting.
- Train and promote the development of crew members.
- Work with the Human Resources Department on matters of employee performance and discipline, when required.
- Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with, the principles of the company's Code of Ethics.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
- Required to perform tasks that involve standing, heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling for an extended period of time.
- Use of personal protection equipment is required.
- Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear required when working outdoors.
- Must be able to work outdoors in areas that are dusty and/or dirty.
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
- Maintain positive company image.

- Minimum 10 years'related paving experience.
- A heavy equipment operator certificate required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role or equivalent is required.
- Proficient in use of all equipment and tools related to asphalt paving.
- Experience using grade control on paving equipment.
- A valid driver's license with an insurable driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.
- A CSTS-09(or 2020) or SCOT required.
- You have the ability to quickly identify problem situations, evaluate alternative causes and produce workable solutions and work positively within a team to achieve a common goal.
- You have experience in road construction, civil, earthworks and/or water and sewer.
- Support the "As-Built" function.
- Leadership for Safety Excellence. (LSE Proficiency level certified)
