On behalf of our Utilities Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for an Intermediate QA Developer: Automation & Firmware Testing to join our Client's team on a full-time permanent basis. This role is Hybrid and the Client is based in Burnaby, BC.Summary of the Role
This role focuses on ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of distributed Industrial IoT systems, with a strong emphasis on firmware and automated testing. The QA Developer will design and maintain automated test frameworks, contribute to manual testing, and support continuous integration pipelines. Working within an agile environment, this position collaborates closely with development teams to validate new features across endpoint devices and network technologies.Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute both manual and automated test cases for distributed Industrial IoT applications, including firmware validation
  • Design and maintain automated test frameworks and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines
  • Create and manage test data to support a variety of test scenarios
  • Collaborate with developers to define test strategies and validate application functionality
  • Coordinate manual and automated testing efforts to ensure efficient product validation
  • Contribute to a fully automated verification environment
  • Analyze system and network performance using data visualization and statistical tools
  • Apply QA best practices across all phases of the SDLC, including use of AI-powered testing tools
  • Research and evaluate new testing tools and methodologies to support continuous improvement
Core Requirements
  • 2+ years of QA or software testing experience in a technology environment
  • Experience with test automation frameworks, including execution, reporting, and debugging
  • Strong proficiency with Python, Perl, Linux (e.g., Ubuntu/RedHat), and Bash scripting
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and test tools (e.g., Selenium, JMeter, TestNG, JUnit)
  • Experience testing firmware and/or embedded systems
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience with distributed systems or Industrial IoT applications
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with Oracle databases and SQL queries
  • Proficiency with version control systems such as Git
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
Terms
This is a full-time permanent position based in Burnaby, BC. The role follows a hybrid work arrangement, with an expectation of 3 days per week onsite.
