We are also the exclusive distributor of Italy's finest Rio Mare, Lavazza and San Benedetto products in Canada.Position Summary:Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Plant Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day order fulfillment activities at the Edmonton facility while maintaining efficient production in desired quality and quantity. This position leads the Plant Production Team in achieving key performance indicators for safety, environment, quality, customer service and cost. This role will also oversee other departments, Maintenance, Live Receiving, Live Hang, Evisceration, Shipping and Sanitation.Key Accountabilities:
  • Demonstrates leadership to production supervisors and hourly employees to ensure consistent quality of work.
  • Oversees production operations assuring quality and adherence to production specifications to meet customer expectations and business objectives.
  • Accountable to achieve the assigned business metrics including yield, labor efficiency, sanitation and overhead expenses.
  • Ensures the fulfillment of customer orders within the specifications.
  • Maintains effective communication of expectations and goals throughout the plant environment.
  • Accountable for a safe working environment through the development of strategies focused on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization.
  • Ensure compliance to all OHS and environmental regulatory and corporate standards. Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance.
  • Monitors effective deployment of human resources throughout the plant and ensure the correct administration of the collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Production planning and scheduling for the week as well as forward looking
  • Other duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a supervisor in the meat processing industry demonstrating increasing responsibility and success in various roles, or equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate in English verbally, and in writing.
  • Willingness to work various shifts for vacation coverage as needed
  • Proven experience in, and ability to manage within the terms and conditions of the collective agreement(s) and corporate human resources policies.
