Job Title: Linguistics & Localization Consultant — Master-Level InternshipLevel: Master's Level InternshipDepartment: Software DevelopmentDuration: 520 Hours (approximately 3 months)Work location: Remote (with hybrid options in Toronto)Compensation: Hourly ($32)The Vosyn internship is unique. Remuneration is equivalent to $32.00 CAD per hour payable in common shares of the Corporation at the then fair market value. For greater clarity, NO cash in-hand (in hourly rate or salary) will be paid to the Intern. We invite you to be part of our journey and leave your imprint on the future of AI.About the Role: We are currently seeking Linguistics & Localization Consultant Interns for a challenging experience based Internship to contribute to an innovative and groundbreaking project in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).   • Assist in the development of Large Language Models and voice synthesis tools for a specific non-English language, ensuring the linguistic integrity and authenticity of the models
  • Collect and analyze linguistic data pertinent to the target language. This involves sourcing, annotating, and validating large datasets to enhance the language models' accuracy and naturalness in voice synthesis
  • Provide expert insights on the cultural and linguistic nuances of the target language, ensuring that the models capture idiomatic expressions, regional dialects, and culturally specific references accurately
  • Develop localization strategies for adapting the language models and voice synthesis to specific regional contexts within the language group, focusing on cultural appropriateness and regional linguistic variations
About You:
  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a Master's program in Linguistics, Translation Studies, Computational Linguistics, or a closely related field. Master's program enrollment or completion is mandatory.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand and process language data, identify patterns, and solve complex linguistic challenges
  • An innate understanding of cultural sensitivities and differences, and the ability to adapt content to various cultural contexts effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex linguistic concepts to non-expert audiences, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with specific localization software, knowledge in a particular area of linguistics such as phonetics, syntax, or semantics, or experience working in a multilingual environment
  • Be fluent or an advanced speaker of any language besides English ( preferably Spanish or French)

  • Orientation Session: Successful candidates will be invited to participate in an orientation session where they will learn more about Vosyn, our projects, and what to expect during the internship.
