Working with the enterprise cloud foundations team.
Retail client located in downtown Vancouver hybrid work, 4 days a week in office.

What & Why:Our client is looking to add a Platform Engineer to their team for a 6-month contract to start. This role owns cloud financial management across Azure and AWS environments, operating at the intersection of engineering, finance, and executive strategy. You'll manage end-to-end cloud cost optimization including Reserved Instance and Savings Plan strategy, lifecycle management, and utilization reporting, while building forecasting models to project spend at team, product, and organizational levels with accuracy suitable for budget planning cycles. Beyond cost tracking, you'll develop anomaly detection frameworks to surface spikes and waste in near-real time, partner with engineering teams to embed FinOps best practices into architecture reviews and deployment pipelines, and establish tagging standards, showback/chargeback models, and cost allocation frameworks across business units. This is not a back-office analytics role, you'll prepare and deliver cost reviews and optimization roadmaps directly to senior managers and operational leadership, translating complex cloud spend data into business narrative and actionable decisions that drive measurable cost efficiency without compromising delivery velocity.Who:This client is one of the most recognizable Canadian brands, a true Vancouver success story who has expanded globally. They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have a primarily in office work environment with 4 days a week in office.You:You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:

5+ years of hands-on cloud operations experience with deep expertise in both Azure and AWS cost management platforms, including native tools (Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer) and third-party platforms (Apptio Cloudability, CloudHealth).
Proven expertise in RI/SP procurement strategy, utilization analysis, and coverage optimization across compute families, with demonstrated ability to manage lifecycle and maximize cost efficiency.
Experience building cloud spend forecasting models and anomaly detection frameworks, with ability to architect monitoring logic (not just consume dashboards) and surface cost spikes, waste, and misaligned resource usage in near-real time.
Executive-level communication and presentation skills, with proven ability to translate technical spend data into business narrative, deliver cost reviews and optimization roadmaps to senior leadership, and partner with engineering teams on FinOps best practices (proficiency in Python/SQL for automation and reporting pipelines; FinOps Certified Practitioner preferred).
