Each of our ingredients responds to unique and essential needs, and they enable healthier lifestyles.Reporting to the Maintenance Electrical Supervisor, this Instrumentation Technician is responsible for providing instrumentation maintenance support on a variety of production equipment that supports day to day operations of the plant. Support includes performing preventative maintenance tasks, diagnostics, calibration and troubleshooting services, responding to emergency breakdowns and completing accurate work order documentation. This position at times may also perform project work on an as needed basis for new installations and customizations on existing equipment to improve manufacturing efficiencies.This position is based at the Roquette plant in Portage La Prairie.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensure proper performance and operation of machinery and equipment for the production process.
- Minimize production downtime by completing preventive maintenance inspections, planned work orders, and responding to breakdowns and emergency repairs in an expedited and efficient manner.
- knowledge of analog and digital devices, troubleshooting and calibrating.
- Ensure high standards of workmanship quality are delivered to prevent manufacturing equipment breakdowns.
- Perform Instrumentation tasks as assigned by the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor.
- Train an apprentice as part of a formal program or work with junior staff as part of informal training and mentoring in job performance.
- Complete maintenance shift report at the completion of each shift using computerized software.
- Review written documents such as work orders and equipment-specific manufacturer’s publications to perform repairs.
- Plan and prioritize workflow according to business needs and management instructions
- Instrumentation Journeyman certificate or a completed Instrumentation Technologist diploma.
- Minimum 3 years instrumentation technician experience in a manufacturing environment with a preference towards the food industry
- Working knowledge of installing, configuring, and calibration of analog sensors, actuators, analyzers, and specific detectors.
- Experience working with a DCS or PLC system in an automated plant environment is preferred.
- A curious, inquisitive approach and a love for learning.
- Able to work with minimal supervision and with a high level of initiative and organization
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment
- Great communications skills, both written and oral.
