- Identifies current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers. Provides product, service, or equipment, technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- Establish new accounts and services accounts by identifying potential customers; planning and organizing sales call schedule.
- Prepares cost estimates by studying blueprints, plans, and related customer documents, consulting with engineers, architects, and other professional and technical personnel.
- Gains customer acceptance by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements.
- Submits orders by conferring with technical support staff; costing engineering changes.
- Develops customers’ staff by providing technical information and training.
- Prepares sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and engineering and application trends.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed, providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations, recommending options and courses of action, and implementing directives.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to customers and prospective customers.

- Prepare schedules, charts, and support installations.
- Confer with customers and engineers to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements.
- Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support.
- Secure and renew orders and arrange delivery.
- Plan and modify products to meet customer needs.
- Help clients solve problems with installed equipment.
- Recommend improved materials or machinery to customers, showing how changes will lower costs or increase production.
- Help in researching and developing new products.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 4-Year bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field is preferred but not required if extended experience is proven.
- 10 or more years of experience working within a related role in sales.
- 2 years of experience in an automotive material handling environment.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, structural materials, steel machining/welding practices.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and AutoCAD.
- Works precisely and has a high level of attention to detail.
- Organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in material handling and steel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to self-manage time and time of others.
