- Ensure adherence to organizational health and safety programs through routine management, review, and follow-up procedures
- Develop and prioritize proposals for capital expenditures and projects
- Manage and supervise container seedling production
- Create production target plans
- Implement crop and work plans
- Identify and assess crop damage, losses and reliability issues
- Perform root-cause analysis with nursery personnel and develop solutions
- Keep neat and accurate records
- Manage labor force
- Identify training needs
- Mentor, coach, and train nursery personnel
- Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
- Correspond with customers
- Follow and enforce safe work practices
- Encourage innovation and continuous improvement
- Promote collaboration and teamwork at all levels
- Set targets (i.e., production, timelines) and evaluate achievement
- A bachelor's degree or diploma in horticulture, agriculture, or forestry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in nursery operations, with a proven track record of leadership and team management.
- Working knowledge of pine seedling nursery/agricultural operations, equipment, irrigation, soil fertility, and pesticides.
- Strong team leadership and people management experience.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer-driven and oriented, with a strong work ethic and dedication to safety and excellence.
