What & Why:As a result of new projects our client is looking to add a contract back end engineer to their growing team. This role is focused on enhancing and maintaining lululemon's global Oracle Xstore Point of Sale (POS) platform, a critical technology in delivering seamless in-store experiences worldwide. The position involves designing, developing, and customizing Xstore applications and integrations, particularly with payment systems, while ensuring solutions follow Oracle best practices. You'll work across the full software development lifecycle, from gathering requirements and creating solution designs, to coding, testing, and deployment, while troubleshooting production issues and implementing system improvements. This role blends deep technical expertise in Java, Xstore, and cloud-based deployments with collaboration across agile product teams to support business growth, improve retail operations, and integrate innovative technologies into the POS ecosystem.Who:This client is one of the most recognizable Canadian brands, a true Vancouver success story who has expanded globally. They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have an in-office work environment with 4 days a week in office.You:You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible work experience designing, developing, customizing, and implementing Retail Point of Sale system
  • Minimum 4 years of development and customization experience of Xstore suite of product
  • Extensive experience in Core Java, J2EE, Web/Application development tools.
  • Experience must include programming APIs adhering to microservices architecture; Java/J2EE; Spring boot technologies; Spring MVC, JSP; AJAX; JavaScript; XML and XML parsers; SOAP/REST web services
  • Experienced in developing object-oriented development frameworks within Agile/Scrum, and waterfall environments
  • Develops code, techniques and processes that interfaces with middleware, including: Web Services, SOAP, and XML
  • Proven expertise of networking concepts/protocols -TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP, etc.
  • 4+ years data base design / development experience in RDBMS platforms (SQL Server, Oracle), experience with NoSQL DB design/development preferred
  • Experience & working knowledge in AWS Services (AWS Docker ECS, AWS Application load balancer, S3) is a plus
  • Experience with logging and monitoring tools like Datadog, Grafana & Splunk etc.
