Operating Engineer (3rd Class or Experienced 4th Class)

- Maintain compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
- Operate, inspect, and service central heating plants, distribution piping, and energy transfer stations.
- Monitor system performance through HMI/PLC interfaces and respond to alarms and abnormal conditions.
- Troubleshoot issues, perform corrective actions, and complete routine equipment maintenance.
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation.
- Coordinate with contractors and communicate with building representatives.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
- Maintenance & Asset Management
- Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and related equipment.
- Follow established procedures and contribute to updates of operating and maintenance documentation.
- Support identification and resolution of system deficiencies.
- Provide input on operations, maintenance planning, and asset management initiatives
- Assist with other tasks as required to support utility operations.
- Technical Safety BC Power Engineering Certificate (3rd Class or 4th Class).
- 3+ years of experience with mechanical/electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, or communications systems.
- Experience with thermal energy systems, utilities, or district energy is an asset.
- Familiarity with PLC/BMS systems.
- Strong understanding of applicable safety regulations.
- Ability to interpret technical information and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills, independent judgment, and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment.
- Valid drivers license.
- Ability to operate District Energy Systems safely & independently with limited to no supervision
