- Lead and mentor a team of multi-discipline hardware staff including the Mechanical, ECAD and hardware development teams.
- Develop and maintain a rolling five years departmental roadmap along with an annual strategic plan.
- Prepare financial operational and capital acquisition budgets.
- Suggest, plan and lead continuous improvements projects.
- Provide timely technical and financial estimates to internal customers.
- Responsible to hire, develop and train the staff required to deliver the required support and development capability with innovative solutions.
- Produce employee’s performance reports and develop personnel career paths.
- Maintain employees’ skill set matrices
- Review team’s projects technical progress and performance through program reviews, providing KPI metrics and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Support all direct reports in meeting their 98% on time delivery commitments while respecting scope, budgets, schedules and quality requirements.
- Enhance departmental procedures and interfaces with related departments to efficiently increase synergies.
- Provide oversite for the processes of Obsolescence management, Last Time Buy, warranty and other life cycle support requirements.
- Coordinate, review and approve design estimates for Test, Sustaining and development activities as required.
- Participate in product development activities using Design For Testability (DFT) concepts to develop test solutions with maximum test coverage.
- Manage the evolution of the new software test platform, its impact and benefits.
- Implement and support new sustaining structure with distinctive roles and skillset required: PPE, PE, Team lead, Sustaining engineer and Technical specialists.
- Effectively interface and support manufacturing as well as maintenance organizations to ensure continuous operations thus avoiding downtime.
- Acquainted with continuous improvement techniques, Lean/Six Sigma. Green Belt or Black Belt certification would be an asset
- Hold a Bachelor in engineering or equivalent;
- Possess at least in engineering, with a minimum of an additional ten years in a supervisory/managerial role;
- Fluently bilingual, French and English, orally and written
- Proven leadership skills, team player, internal and external customer oriented, working in a multidisciplinary task environment
- Posses basic financial knowledge to enable departmental operation’s management
- Demonstrate an ability to interface effectively with coworkers and all management levels
- Sound analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Highly self motivated, self aware and capable of addressing the group’s needs
- Strong abilities to build and sustain a high performance team
- Interface skills with Engineering, Manufacturing and Product Maintenance technical issues, testability, manufacturability and test strategy
