
Ambient Air Technician

- Calibration/maintenance of Air Monitoring equipment.
- Ensuring equipment uptime is maximized
- Ensuring the production of high quality, legally defensible data, safely and on time.
- To provide excellent customer service.
- Understand and strictly follow Provincial and/or Federal Environmental Air Monitoring Directives or Guidelines, and the protocols therein.
- Accurate calibration of ambient air monitoring equipment
- Troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment including analyzers, data acquisition systems, meteorological sensors, and supporting systems.
- Communicate critical issues and consult with other team members to quickly resolve issues and minimize downtime.
- Prepare and submit accurate field documentation.
- Review collected data and escalate potential issues.
- Solve problems in a way, which increases our customers' trust in the company's abilities to meet existing & future challenges.
- Safe travel at all times whilst using a company vehicle. This may include towing and maneuvering trailers.
- Develop a strong and open working relationship with fellow employees.
- Ensure adherence to Bureau Veritas' policies, ISO certificate and Partners in Safety membership.
- Ensure adherence to client's policies and procedures when applicable.
- Implementation, maintenance and improvement of the management system
- Identification of deviations from the management system, including standard operating procedures and work instructions
- Initiation of actions to prevent or minimize such deviations.
- Reporting to management on the performance of the management system and any need for improvement
- Perform various other field duties, as required.
- Post-secondary education in environmental, chemistry, electronics or instrumentation, or equivalent transferable experience.
- Demonstrated experience in a technical field.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to troubleshoot issues under pressure.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Technician: Sufficient knowledge to perform basic troubleshooting of computers, electronic circuits, pumps, air sampling systems
- Technologist: Good understanding of all Ambient Systems and the ability to troubleshoot independently.

- Ability to maintain quality work with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to perform physically demanding activities in all weather conditions.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License, good driving record with less than 6 demerits.
- Work primarily involves out-of-town travel.
- Significant time spent driving.
- Work is primarily “working alone” (after training)
- Work may be out of doors, ambient conditions must always be expected.
- Must be able to climb ladders.
- Must be able to work extended hours.
- Must be able to perform heavy lifting.
- Must be able to work in a safe manner in noisy environments, with the possibility of exposure to airborne contaminants and fumes.
- Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate PPE.
- Carrying and using a company supplied IPhone device (or similar technology) to receive and respond to calls and emails.
- This is a safety-sensitive position involving significant fieldwork at remote and isolated sites. Candidates must be willing and able to perform key physical activities as described in the job posting and/or interviews. Within limits, this can include working in inclement weather, working alone, and/or working in hazardous environments.
