Job DescriptionWhat is the Opportunity?You will join Hybrid Cloud & Intelligent Operations group as Senior Lead Infrastructure Architect within the Architecture team in Technology Infrastructure. The Infrastructure Architecture team is responsible for establishing the strategic direction and leading the development and support of infrastructure solutions globally for all RBC businesses including, Technology and Operations, Insurance, Investor & Treasury Services, Personal and Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, & Wealth Management.As a Senior Lead Infrastructure Architect, you will partner with IT, Operations and business stakeholders to lead development of infrastructure architecture, particularly for high complexity and high-risk IT initiatives.You will provide direct support to development teams and to the Lead infrastructure Architect. May be called upon to perform the duties of the Lead Infrastructure Architect as events warrant. current and target state, roadmaps, strategies, policies, standards, guidelinesPresents technical architecture to clients and forums including the ARB and EABTechnical Leadership & MentoringAdvocates architecture principles and provides infrastructure expertise, feedback and development to mentor othersProduces infrastructure architecture artefacts including diagrams and blueprints as defined by the PMF/SDLC and reviews with Lead Architects and the key program/project stakeholders.Reviews infrastructure architecture to ensure compliance/fit in the portfolioEnsures that new projects / programs meet enterprise application, infrastructure standards and follows enterprise governance framework and processesCollaborationFacilitates meetings and builds rapport to review infrastructure architecture, decision making and problem solvingResolves technical issues and escalates as appropriate.Prepares and delivers presentations to business and technology partners and senior management/executivesResolves conflicts/issues and escalates as appropriate.Facilitates knowledge transfer and collaboration to other architects and operational support teamsDefines design guidelines and best practicesTraining & Professional DevelopmentStays current on technological advancements, identifying potential benefits and risks to the implementation / use of new and evolving technologiesContinually enhances skills and builds knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems.Identifies operational or architectural risks and recommends mitigation strategies.Leads and/or oversee initiatives to contribute to the ongoing reliability and security of systems/applicationsWhat do you need to succeed?Must have8-12 years of enterprise industry experience at defining infrastructure architecture, with a major focus on resiliency, nonfunctional and securitySolid track record with a variety of technologies such as Cloud (Azure, AWS and/or GCP), Server Hardware, Operating Systems (Windows, Unix, z/OS, HP Non-Stop, AS/400), Virtualization, Server Consolidation, Storage Technology, Network Technology, Database Systems, Middleware Technology, Systems Management, ITIL, Collaboration technologies, Software Distribution, BCP / DRP strategies, etc.Solid experience with SOA, REST and MDM Technology as well as a variety of technologies/approaches including J2EE, .NET, mainframe, cloud, vendor products and multi-platform applicationsDemonstrated proficiency in a team environment with projects involving the integration of disparate types of technologies/platforms.Ability to quickly evaluate options, make decisions and execute within an intense high-tech environment.Awareness and familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks/processesVery strong communication skills (oral, written, facilitation, presentation)Demonstrated initiative and leadership abilities, comfortable managing issues in cross functional teamsPositive attitude, keeping a constant watch on how to do things betterAdaptability and a willingness to take on new challengesConflict and issue resolution and escalationNice to haveBachelor’s degree in a technical area of study (computer science, mathematics, engineering, etc.) or other BS/BA degree with a concentration in computer science or information systems. or demonstrated equivalent experience.Total relevant IT experience of 8-12 years in multiple IT areas, of which at least 5 years doing infrastructure architecture on large programs/projectsCloud Architecture CertificationsKnowledge on Database like Oracle RAC, PostgresKnowledge on software defined storageFamiliarity or experience with high performance computingHands on experience on other flavor of Linux like Ubuntu, DebianExperience with open-source technologies and business modelsPrior experience with the agile development processFamiliarity with Jira or similar toolPrevious experience doing application migrations from traditional to cloud native.What’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
