  • Assist Technicians, Technologists, Metallurgists, Senior Metallurgists, and Project Managers in laboratory, sample preparation, and pilot plant environments.
  • Participate in large scale pilot plants and interpreting results under the supervision of a Senior Metallurgist and/or Project Manager.
  • Exposure to the technical groups of Mineral Processing (Grinding, Flotation), Gold Processing and Hydro metallurgy.
  • Aid in drafting and preparing portions of reports that are ultimately provided to clients.
  • Assist Metallurgists and Project Managers with the management of small projects of variable scope and complexity in the Mineral Processing (Grinding, Flotation), Gold Processing and Hydrometallurgy groups.
  • Support in compiling and analyzing metallurgical data.
  • Assist in the scheduling of metallurgical test work
  • Directs technicians/technologists
  • Verify and report results.
  • May travel to other SGS metallurgical laboratory locations in Canada or overseas on either short term assignments or longer-term assignments as part of a strategic initiative.
  • May be assigned and coordinate special or ad hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor University degree in Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, Hydrometallurgy, Mining Engineering or in a related science discipline.
  • Up to 3 years of previous working experience in a minerals related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in mineral processing, hydro metallurgy and gold metallurgy, including flowsheet development, bench scale test work is an asset.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various type of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.).
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Ability to work well with others and independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Extended hours may be required from time to time.
  • Travel may be required from time to time.
