Join us today and be a part of a team that is redefining the future of media.CityNews Vancouver is looking for a versatile candidate to host our scheduled newscasts, 24/7 streaming service and produce news stories when required. You should be able to host live newscasts and report live from the scene of breaking news when needed. You must have passion for local news and the ability to push the boundaries of creative storytelling. The position will require shift work like early morning, evening and weekend shifts.What you will do:
  • Host scheduled newscasts, 24/7 streaming service and special productions in Vancouver
  • Take a lead role in breaking news coverage
  • Book, write and conduct newsmaker interviews every day
  • Work with the editorial leaders on daily news coverage
  • Write scripts and produce content from video gathered in the field
  • Produce news stories in the filed when required
  • Work with the team to produce prime time specials when required
What you will bring:
  • Experience in hosting a live newscasts and breaking news coverage
  • Strong on-air presentation skills with an ability to ad-lib and conduct newsmaker interviews
  • A passion for news and storytelling - you know what makes a great story and know how to tell it.
  • Experience in long form video storytelling
  • An understanding of multi-platform coverage, not confined by a 'typical' television reporter package.
  • News moves fast! You must be able to multi-task and deliver for multiple, daily online and broadcast deadlines
  • Because news never stops - you are prepared to work evenings and weekends.
