- Lead tactical response operations in the ERT Lead's absence.
- Assist with the development of site-specific emergency response plans and procedures to ensure a coordinated and effective response to all emergencies across the site.
- Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and inventory of fire protection and life safety equipment and systems, along with all client assets under the stewardship of Intl.SOS
- Participate in meetings as assigned by the ERT Lead and client.
- Participate in training programs for ERT members and the auxiliary ERT.
- Attend safety/toolbox meetings.
- Participate in drills, inspections, and all other site-related duties as assigned.
- Maintain standards of practice consistent with the governing regulatory body.
- Comply with International SOS Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure that patients are managed in a professional and friendly manner.
- Ensure equipment and transport vehicles are ready 24/7 to undertake emergency response services.
- Participate in ongoing continuing education provided by International SOS
- Operate within boundaries of provincial licenses.
- Assist with the internal training program on site by preparing training sessions as requested.
- Participate in required drills/skills testing.
- Any other duties that may be requested from time to time by management..
- Fulfil applicable officer responsibilities in the absence of the ERT Lead.
- Establish work priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate workflows.
- Maintain discipline and ensure rescue team members adhere to client policies and procedures.
- Ensure International SOS is represented in a positive and professional manner when interacting with the client and other contractors on site.
- Encourage a respectful work environment by demonstrating positive workplace behaviour.
- Lead rescue team members by demonstrating safe work behaviours and adherence to safety policies.
- Ensure rescue team members are compliant with client policies regarding code of conduct, uniform dress and appearance.
- Work safely to protect themselves and others from injury.
- Report any workplace hazards.
- Everyone in the workplace shares this responsibility equally.
- Undertake all mandatory safety training as required.
- Obey all health and safety procedures including correctly wearing all PPE provided.
- Report any workplace injury, illness or near misses. It is important to notify supervisors or employers of all injuries, no matter how insignificant they seem.
- Get to know emergency procedures and the location of the first aid kit and AED.
- Ask questions to check or clarify any issues related to OH&S training, tasks or any issue that may affect safety in the workplace.
- NFPA 1001 level II or 1081 facility fire brigade member - advanced exterior level
- NFPA 470 (or 1072, or 472) Hazardous Materials Response - Operations Level
- NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator (preferred)
- NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue Operations Level
- NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor Level I (preferred)
- Class 3/4 drivers license with Q endorsement (or higher)
- H2S Alive
- Advance First Aid/MFR/EMR ( or higher)
- WHMIS
- Site-specific requirements as indicated at hire date (i.e. orientation, physical, etc.)
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
