Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM Buildings + Places, AECOM's Architectural business, is seeking an Architect to join our team. This position will be based out of our Calgary, Winnipeg or Saskatoon office with remote/hybrid work options permitted.AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building's engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects.
  • Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.
  • Preparing specifications, reports and related data tables.
  • Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required.
  • Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may independently perform advanced technical assignments of various complexities within approved schedules and budgets.
  • May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.
  • May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
  • Strong, hands-on technical knowledge

  • Document review and inter-disciplinary coordination
  • Develop or assist in the development of studies, programs, concepts, preliminary and final plans and specifications for projects of varying type and scale
  • Prepare, review and approve drawing, specifications and other documentation as required. These will range from design presentations documents to technical documents for building permit, tender and construction and technical reports
  • Ensure designs are developed in compliance with client program of requirements and in compliance with local codes, standards and applicable regulations
  • Ensure designs are developed in accordance with AECOM processes, design and quality standards
  • Lead project coordination with multi-disciplinary teams, both internal to AECOM and external. Provides leadership by coordinating the work of others
  • Interface with clients, authorities and other project participants as needed to achieve a successful project
  • Work with AECOM design offices across the country, including participation in project teams and overall development of the design and technical quality of AECOM projects
  • Proactively identifies and advocates for improvements to existing processes and procedures. Adjusts to new processes or changing assignments, and considers alternative approaches to complete work
  • Completes assigned work independently and receives general guidance and direction on new projects, tasks and priorities
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the below requirement, at a very minimum:
  • No less than a University Degree in Architecture + Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Architect with the OAA.
See Preferred Requirements below.Preferred Qualifications:Experience: Preference for those with over two years of experience as a Registered Architect with the OAA, experience with Science & Technology laboratories and facilities is a definite asset.Certifications: LEED certification and familiarity with AAA/AIBC/OAQ/AIA are highly regarded.Skills: Proficiency in REVIT, BIM, MS Office, Adobe Suite, and strong communication abilities are essential.Additional Information
