The organization has built a strong reputation for quality, collaboration, and long-term client partnerships across sectors such as industrial, commercial, aviation, and recreational infrastructure.As the business continues to grow, they are seeking a Controller to lead the finance function and partner closely with operations to support project performance and strategic expansion.The OpportunityThis is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, ambitious finance leader to step into a key role within a growing construction organization.The ideal candidate is hungry, entrepreneurial, and solutions-oriented — a leader who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, building processes, mentoring a team, and bringing forward new ideas to improve financial operations.This role will work closely with senior leadership and operations to help drive project profitability, financial discipline, and long-term business growth.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting process including month-end, year-end, and financial statement preparation.
  • Oversee construction accounting processes, including job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
  • Partner closely with project managers and operational leaders to monitor project financial performance and support decision-making.
  • Develop and enhance financial processes, internal controls, and reporting frameworks to support operational efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while fostering a strong performance-driven culture.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis to support strategic planning.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, lenders, and advisors.
  • Provide financial insight and recommendations to senior leadership on profitability, cost management, and growth initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate
  • CPA designation (CA preferred)
  • Background in public accounting (Big 4 or mid-sized firm preferred)
  • Construction industry experience required, including job costing and project accounting
  • Proven leadership capability with experience mentoring or managing staff
  • Highly hands-on and comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Strong communication and business partnering skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to grow with the business and make a meaningful impact
