We focus on resolving and mitigating account debits while ensuring timely client reimbursements. Our team embraces Wealthsimple's Maker Owner and The Client culture values as we continuously enhance our processes for identifying and addressing negative balances, serving as Project Owners and Processors. We take naive ambition seriously, constantly seeking innovative approaches to debt resolution while working closely with various stakeholders such as product, compliance, and market risk to operationalize efficient reimbursement workflows and contribute meaningfully to building a client-first brokerage business.About the role:As a Senior Associate in the Brokerage Risk, Money Owed team, you'll have exposure owning some of our projects, such as monitoring delinquencies into our investing product. As the team matures, we're looking for a Senior candidate to explore opportunities within AI, mentor our small, diverse team and evolve our processes in new and exciting spaces. Your impact on these projects saves Wealthsimple millions of dollars quarter by quarter, as well as reimbursing our clients and edging Canadians closer to financial freedom!In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:
  • Drive innovation and efficiency - Build and optimize our risk management processes as we launch exciting new products that help more people grow their wealth.
  • Create data-driven solutions - Develop analytical frameworks that evaluate how our processes are performing and identify opportunities to make them even better.
  • Monitor account risk daily - Keep a close eye on non-margin accounts holding securities and options, ensuring we follow our established policies to protect our clients.
  • Take swift action when needed - Implement remedial measures for accounts in debit or high-risk situations, following our proven procedures to maintain account health.
  • Turn insights into impact - Work with teams across Wealthsimple to transform data into clear recommendations, spot improvement opportunities, and enhance our systems and policies.
  • Grow our team - Support and mentor junior colleagues while helping build the collaborative, growth-focused culture that makes Wealthsimple special.
What you'll bring:
  • Deep experience in operational optimization, quantitative analysis, or similar roles.
  • Strong technical skills with proficiency in Excel, Python, SQL, or similar tools for data analysis.
  • DFOL Certification. OSC & IDSC would be great too!
  • Experience working with large datasets and deriving meaningful insights
  • You're passionate about the fintech and alternative investment space, always curious to dig into day-to-day issues and find smart solutions.
  • You're a detail-oriented problem-solver who thrives under pressure, expertly managing multiple time-sensitive tasks while quickly adapting to challenges in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • You excel at communication and collaboration, working effectively with cross-functional teams and partners.
