- Provide leadership, overall management and direction to maintenance staff; support staff to ensure quality of work and proactive approach to equipment maintenance; allocate resources based on job demands and budgetary constraints. Direct, supervise and coordinate maintenance activities, the maintenance and repairs of equipment, building structures and facilities;
- Control, purchase, distribute and report spare parts and fuel inventory; plan and distribute work to utilize skills, abilities and experience to prevent interruption; initiate and implement capital projects relating to equipment upgrade and facility maintenance;
- Supply logistical support to other departments: AutoCAD drawings, cost savings and special maintenance reports, etc.;
- Represent Oceanex as a technical liaison with contractors, sub-contractors and St. John's Port Authority;
- Prepare departmental operating budgets and pertinent cost projection reports; generate and supply monthly resource usage and equipment cost reports;
- Implement operations policies and standards including determination of safety procedures and ensure compliance with Canada Labour Code and Transportation Regulations; supervise maintenance of Oceanex Maintenance Facility and other terminal structures; maintain up-to-date working knowledge of terminal systems;
- Participate as an integral member of Oceanex Occupational Health & Safety Committee;
- Provide technical information, when needed, for the implementation of company safety policies and procedures;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of an Inter-provincial Heavy Equipment Trade Certification, engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance supervision;
- People with marine engineering and/or marine superintendent experience will be considered;
- Management of a unionized workforce would be an asset;
- Knowledge of engineering practices and procedures equivalent to CET level;
- Computer literate.

- Strong organizational and priority management skills;
- Ability to create and implement equipment maintenance programs and reports.
