Saputo Dairy Products Canada is looking for a Director, Quality Assurance. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Quality Assurance and Food Safety, this position is responsible for providing leadership, direction and guidance to a team of quality assurance and quality control professionals in the development and management of quality and food safety programs for assigned Saputo plants, copackers, warehouses and sales branches.How you will make contributions that matter:
Provide support to assigned plants in Quality Assurance and Food Safety by providing direction and guidance through a thorough understanding of Saputo quality and food safety standards as well as regulatory requirements;
Provide leadership, direction and guidance to QA Advisors, QA Managers, Plant Managers and Plant QC management in Quality Assurance and Food Safety;
Support the training and development of QA Advisors and QA Managers;
Conduct scheduled plant visits to assigned plants, copackers, warehouses and sales branches to follow-up and support quality and food safety initiativesReview and approve QA plant, copacker, warehouse and sales branch audit reports;
Support plants and lead a team of QA Advisors in troubleshooting plant quality and food safety related issues;
Assess the suitability of potential new copackers via audits and reviews of technical and quality data;
Collaborate with regulatory agencies such as CFIA as well as external auditors to assist in inspections, audits and potential quality, food safety and regulatory issues;
Proactively work on assigned department tasks and projects related to the continuous improvement of Quality and Food safety programs;You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
- University degree in Food Science, Microbiology, (a strong asset) or other related discipline;
- Minimum of 10 years related experience in the food industry, preferably dairy;
- Management experience
- Bilingualism (English & French, oral and written) is essential: the employee will be required to communicate and collaborate with colleagues, partners and suppliers in English 50% of the time.
- Willingness to travel to our various sites in Canada 20% of the time
- Strong knowledge of plant QA systems including HACCP and GFSI;
- Strong knowledge of environmental pathogen monitoring programs and Canadian regulatory requirements;
- Strong leadership, communication and work organization skills demonstrated;
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office computer applications.
