Join us as we assist mining companies in getting mined materials to communities around the globe.Your OpportunityWe are currently searching for a Senior Geologist to join our Calgary office. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Geology, Geotech and Hydro oversight to our mining team responsible for resource-reserve estimation, geotechnical engineering, mining engineering, hydrogeology, mine planning, mineral processing, and financial analysis. We are looking for someone to participate in multi-disciplinary team projects, who can lead projects in their area of expertise, and is willing to assist with business development of existing and new clients.Your Key ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates competency in a combination of areas including broad technical knowledge, planning and in-field supervision of complex geological/geotechnical/hydrogeological site investigation programsExemplify Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all workConduct peer reviews and Quality Reviews of field investigation deliverablesProvide supervision, training, technical direction and mentoring to junior staffExecutes technical tasks which require the application of mature knowledgeAssists and works closely with Geotechnical Engineers to plan, manage, and execute drilling investigationsAssists and works closely with Mining Engineers to plan, manage, and execute resource exploration and evaluation programs related to precious and base metalsAssists in business development with new and existing clients through proposal writing and meetingsYour Capabilities and CredentialsWillingness to work and travel to remote locations for short periods (e.g., two weeks)Strong technical writing and communication skillsUnderstanding of project related risksExcellent communication skills to facilitate technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, as well as non- technical stakeholdersChampions new ideas and initiatives, and creates an environment that supports creativity, innovation, and a culture of continuous improvementMaintains productive professional and personal networking relationshipsDrives collaborative efforts within the business line and beyond to consistently deliver high quality workPhysical Requirements- This position has minimum physical requirements as outlined in the Stantec Field Physical Demands Assessment.A fit for duty assessment is required prior to deployment in the field and is a condition of employment.Additional physical demands may be required and will be defined in the Project Specific HSSE plans.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Geoscience, Engineering or related fieldRegistration as a Professional Geologist within Canada (P.Geo., or P.Geol) is requiredMinimum 10 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.
