- Collaborate with project managers to develop project schedules, milestones, and objectives.
- Interpret and understand construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Coordinate with various teams to ensure efficient allocation of resources and materials.
- Oversee day to day construction activities, including scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and material deliveries.
- Monitor progress and adjust schedules as needed to meet project milestones.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and building codes.
- Address any issues or obstacles that arise during construction and propose solutions.
- Supervise and manage subcontractors, ensuring they are following project guidelines and deadlines.
- Hire, train, and manage on-site labour, including maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
- Conduct regular meetings to communicate project updates and expectations to the construction team.
- Perform regular inspections to ensure workmanship and materials meet specified quality standards.
- Identify and address deviations from plans and specifications, initiating corrective actions as required.
- Maintain open and transparent communication with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare regular progress reports, documenting work completed, challenges faced and solutions implemented.
- Assist in manging project budgets by tracking expenses, material costs, and labour hours.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality and safety.
- Identify potential risks and issues that may impact project timelines and budgets.
- Develop contingency plans and strategies to mitigate risks effectively.
- Interface with clients, addressing concerns, providing updates, and ensuring overall client satisfaction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to diagnose, analyze, and develop solutions to complex issues.
- Analytical and strong problem-solving ability
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Effective team leader.
- The proven ability to effectively manage and inspire staff.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably ICI construction.
- In-depth understanding, knowledge, and implementation of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act as it relates to each project you are responsible for.
- Strong understanding and adherence to safety standards
- Gold Seal Certified an asset.
- LEED Accredited an asset
- Computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project
- Knowledge of Suretrak, Primavera P3 or P6, Procore, BIM Software, or E-Builder Project Management Software is an asset.
- Knowledge of Lean Construction
