- Client Relationship Management: maintaining and developing excellent relationships with clients, overseeing all aspects of client service and account management, leading client meetings, acting as the main point of contact and trusted advisor, understanding their needs and developing proactive and creative solutions to meet client needs, and collaborating with other lines of business, introducing other services to clients as appropriate.
- Actuarial Consulting Services: providing recommendations to optimize the strategic management of defined benefit pension plans, including plan design, valuation, risk management, regulatory compliance, employee education, and plan administration, developing and implementing strategic plans aligned with clients’ long-term objectives and contributing to the long-term sustainability of the plan for clients and their members.
- Team Leadership: supporting team engagement by providing mentorship, guidance and technical expertise to junior team members, overseeing the delivery of projects, managing scope of work, quality, fees, budgets and timelines.
- Business Development: identifying and developing new business, ensuring the ongoing growth of existing clients as well as providing support on RFPs, finalist presentations and marketing collateral to drive lead generation.
- 10+ years of experience in defined benefit pension plan consulting
- Knowledge of pension legislation and actuarial standards of practice including pension plan valuation, financial projections, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements
- Proven ability to develop relationships at the highest levels of client organizations and influence decision-makers
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, supporting the growth and mentorship of junior team members
- Solid project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to meet performance targets within a practice area
- Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Post-secondary education in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and a deep understanding of actuarial models and ability to synthesize complex information and analyze layered situations
- Thought leadership and subject matter expertise
- Excellent communication, consulting and presentation skills to effectively convey complex actuarial concepts to clients and stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting
- A passion for continuous learning and staying updated with the latest developments in actuarial science, financial markets, industry developments and emerging trends related to the pension industry
- Business and financial acumen, knowledge of strategies and tactics required in the marketplace and ability to bring creative ideas to market
- Ability to meet performance targets
- Professional actuarial exams and certifications: fully qualified FCIA or close to qualifying
- Bilingual (English and French)
