- Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on vehicles following OEM guidelines and safety standards.
- Conduct inspections, identify repair needs, and provide accurate documentation for repair orders.
- Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using OEM approved equipment and tools.
- Diagnose drivability concerns including rough running, misfires, hesitations, performance issues, emissions failures, and electronic control system faults.
- Use OEM diagnostic software, scan tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and specialized testing equipment to identify root causes.
- Perform detailed inspections and testing of fuel systems, ignition systems, sensors, emissions components, and control modules.
- Interpret data, freezeframe information, and live data streams to provide accurate diagnostic conclusions.
- Complete warranty repairs in accordance with OEM requirements and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with Service Advisors to communicate repair needs, timelines, and technical findings.
- Road test vehicles as necessary to verify concerns and confirm successful repairs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work area in compliance with dealership and manufacturer standards.
- Participate in ongoing OEM training, certification programs, and professional development.
- Follow all dealership processes, including proper parts handling, workflow procedures, and safety protocols.
- Mentor apprentices or junior technicians as assigned by the Service Manager or Shop Foreman.
- All other duties as assined by leadership.
- Red Seal Certified Automotive Service Technician (or equivalent provincial certification).
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills with experience in electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems.
- Advanced diagnostic experience with engine performance, emissions, drivability, and electronic control systems required.
- Strong electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills, including the use of oscilloscopes and advanced diagnostic tools.
- Proficiency with OEM scan tools, diagnostic platforms, and service information systems.
- Previous dealership experience or familiarity with OEM repair systems preferred.
- Ability to use OEM diagnostic tools, scan equipment, and modern repair technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Additional OEM specific certifications are an asset.
