At STERIS, we help our Customers create a healthier and safer world by providing innovative healthcare and life science product and service solutions around the globe.Position SummaryAs a Laboratory Technician II you will support and provide feedback for test execution, equipment qualification (IQ/OQ), and documentation in a BSL-2 environment or a chemistry laboratory, compliant with GLP, ISO 13485, and FDA 21 CFR Part 820.This opportunity is a 15-month temporary role.What You'll do as a Laboratory Technician II
  • Prepare solutions, reagents, media prep, controls; label/document per SOPs
  • Perform microbiological and chemical analyses per SOP/validated methods
  • Execute assigned steps in scientific validation protocols under moderate supervision (cleaning, temperature mapping, disinfection, microbiology, sterilization, chemical residues, cytotoxicity support, etc..)
  • Assist with equipment installation and IQ/OQ under supervision
  • Perform and provide feedback on equipment cleaning, PM, and calibration checks; escalate deviations promptly
  • Assist with moderate supervision in developing approaches to equipment process problems
  • Gather and assist in the analysis of test results and transmit them to the supervisor
  • Record data in notebooks/e-systems; prepare summary reports
  • Conduct and provide feedback for routine care (calibration follow-ups, autoclave operation, cleaning, chemical/micro monitoring)
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, ordering, receiving/shipping
  • Follow EHS and BSL-2 (if required) procedures; engage in Lean 5S initiatives
  • Support and propose implementation of new document templates, checklists or SOP
  • Other duties as assigned
The Experience, Skills and Abilities NeededRequired:
  • Vocational / Technical (Associate's) degree in microbiology, biotechnology, chemistry/biology or any related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years related experience
  • Familiarity with GLP, chemical/biological hazards; PPE required
  • Basic data acquisition skills; MS Office.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, communication, teamwork
  • Language
  • French (Quebec) or English (others)
  • Able to read and speak in English (Quebec)
  • Previous experience working with various microorganisms (e.g., mycobacteria, spores, fungi, Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, endotoxins, etc.);
  • Proficiency in aseptic culture methods;
  • Proficiency in bacterial culture techniques;
  • Prior experience using laboratory equipment such as HPLC, MS, titrators, carbon analyzers, fluorimeters, spectrofluorometers, UV-Visible spectrophotometers, etc
