- Provide technical leadership and systems engineering direction across all project systems and disciplines.
- Develop and maintain the System Engineering Management Plan defining requirements management, verification, and validation processes.
- Lead requirements development, analysis, and allocation from top-level system requirements down to subsystem specifications.
- Oversee technical design reviews and ensure design solutions meet functional, performance, and operational requirements.
- Coordinate systems engineering activities with Interface Manager, Integration Manager, and discipline leads.
- Establish system architecture and ensure coherent technical design across rolling stock, signaling, power, and facility systems.
- Lead trade studies and technical assessments to support design decisions and optimize system performance.
- Manage requirements traceability and ensure verification and validation activities demonstrate compliance.
- Coordinate technical risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for system-level technical risks.
- Support procurement activities by reviewing technical specifications and evaluating contractor proposals.
- Provide technical guidance on operational concepts including degraded mode operations and emergency procedures.
- Ensure technical solutions support the 1,435 mm gauge track, 100% low-floor LRV operations, and TSP functionality.
- Mentor and develop systems engineering capabilities within the project team.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline), Master's degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of progressive systems engineering experience in rail or transit projects with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Expert knowledge of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and lifecycle processes.
- Comprehensive understanding of LRT systems including rolling stock, signaling, traction power, and control systems.
- Proven experience leading technical teams and managing complex multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
- Strong requirements management skills with proficiency in tools such as DOORS or equivalent.
- Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools is an asset.
- Excellent technical problem-solving abilities with strategic and analytical thinking skills.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation required.
- INCOSE certification (CSEP or ASEP) is highly desirable.
- Outstanding communication skills with ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership presence with ability to influence technical direction and build stakeholder confidence.
