Together we have created the first open front-to-back platform - State Street Alpha that was launched in 2019.Join us if delivering next generation infrastructure, using emerging technologies like AI and Blockchain sounds like a challenge you are up for.What we valueExtensive hands-on experience in enterprise software development as a engineering managerExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with decision-making abilitiesProficiency in software architecture design principles and best practicesExperience with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and continuous improvementDemonstrated programming experience in Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript, or other related software engineering languagesExperience financial services developing solutions for Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Post-Trade, IBOR or Wealth ManagementWhat you will be responsible forLeadership and ManagementLead one or more engineering Scrum teams to build and maintain one or more Charles River components or products.Provide technical guidance, training, and professional development opportunities for team membersDrive the Agile process and create a culture of continuous improvement of processes and methodologies through the engineering organizationFulfill the Scrum Master role by leading the team in their Agile development process and working to foster a strong continuous improvement cultureSoftware DevelopmentWork with Product Owner to design and develop software solutions to meet market need and assist in managing the product backlog for their functional areasLead architecture design to ensure system scalability, security, performance and reliabilityManage a development team’s staff, including assignment of work items, employee performance, engagement and professional developmentIdentify improvements in team development and quality including defining new strategies, processes, and required tooling to improve qualityWrite, review and approve software development specifications, projects, proposals, methods and schedules, and provide expert guidance and critical analysis of proposed changes during code reviews;Advise staff members on complex technical problems including specifying proper software designs, and use of existing facilities to solve common problemsMonitor progress on a variety of initiatives and work packages to ensure fulfillment of product and scheduling objectivesReview testing strategy and test plans for team’s product to ensure high product quality; mentor team members to cultivate technical and financial domain knowledge expertise, and assist with developing other essential skills to further their careersDevelop, test, debug, and implement software programs, applications and projects using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript, or other related software engineering languages as well as keeping abreast of emerging technologies impactful to CRDs businessCollaborationWork with engineering, SaaS Operation, support and Implementation teams to provide technical support to current customersCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of functional workflowsEducation & Preferred Qualifications10+ years of progressively responsible professional experience in a software engineering role with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory roleBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plusProven experience with object-oriented programming, compiler or interpreter technologies, operating systems, relational databases (RDBMS), scripting and new/advanced programming languagesStrong understanding ofAbility to coordinate and lead cross functional and organizational activitiesExcellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to clearly and succinctly summarize results for managementDemonstrated experience with project planning and backlog managementA minimum of 7 years working with an Agile development methodology strongly desiredAbout State Street:What we do: State Street is one of the largest custodian banks, asset managers and asset intelligence companies in the world.
